E-commerce traits are structured data points that describe specific user behaviors or contexts in an online shopping environment. These traits are tracked and stored to help businesses understand their visitors' actions, personalize their experience, and trigger targeted responses (e.g., show a discount popup after a product view, trigger a popup when a visitor intends to leave the site with a cart value over $100, etc... ).

In practice, a "trait" is a signal sent when a certain action happens — for example, when someone views a product, uses search, adds something to the cart, or filters a product list.
